In short
Zero dependencies, local only, and every change can be undone.

01The challenge

Claude Code keeps everything for a profile in a folder: conversations, memories, skills, MCP servers, settings. With a work and a personal account on the same machine, a project ends up in the wrong one, a folder gets moved and its history no longer matches, a skill has to be copied by hand. The format of those files is undocumented and can change between releases, so any tool that writes to them has to assume it might get something wrong.

02The approach

Everything happens from one page in the browser. A project moves to another profile with its conversations, memories, file snapshots and settings, after a preview of every file it touches; a moved folder can be relinked; skills, MCP servers and settings are copied to one profile or to all of them, and two profiles can be compared side by side. Settings are edited through dropdowns that only offer the values Claude Code accepts. Safety is the core of the design: every operation records each step in a journal as it happens, so any change can be undone with one click, and so can the undo.

03Technical notes

No framework, no build step, no dependencies: a Python server from the standard library, one module per area, and a single HTML page with vanilla JavaScript and CSS, in light and dark. It listens only on 127.0.0.1, with a token on every request and a strict Content Security Policy, and it never sends anything out unless asked to check for updates. It installs with one command through pipx or uv, adds a /cc-profiles command to every Claude Code profile, and is published on PyPI with a test suite in pytest.

Gallery

  • The Profiles tab: three Claude Code profiles side by side, with what each one shares from the default
  • Two profiles compared setting by setting, with the differences highlighted and a copy in either direction
  • Token usage over thirty days, with the estimated cost and the share read from the cache
  • The memories of a project, read from its folder and editable in place
